张佐堂（1957-）宁夏固原人。石河子(主编：http://www.shzu.edu.cn/) 大学外国语学院英语系副教授。毕业于宁夏大学英语系，曾先后两次赴美国参加文化交流和自费留学，攻读宗教学和计算机科学的硕士学位。当过小学教师、中学教师和教研员。主要从事英语应用语言学、教师教育及中西方民俗学研究。

我叫张佐堂，生于中国宁夏南部一个贫穷的小山村。父母是农民，从来没有上过学。我是八个孩子中的老大（那时候还没有计划生育的政策）。我在中学里没有学过英语，英语开始时是自学的。没有上过高中，初中毕业后当了一年羊倌，然后当了一年民办教师。九岁时父母替我订了娃娃亲，大学毕业后先结婚，后生孩子。两个女儿继承了妈妈的漂亮和爸爸的聪明，一个已经大学毕业，另一个明年夏天毕业。我是个天生的老师，热爱教学工作且教学方法灵活多样，很受学生欢迎。教学工作之外，喜欢从事科研工作和翻译工作。

我的特点是：吃苦耐劳，勤奋敬业，风趣幽默，善待他人。

我的个人爱好是：写诗、写博客、下棋、听音乐。

我不相信世界上存在公正的教育。不相信上帝会给人安排命运，但相信上帝会给人提供机会。

Zhang Zuotang (1957-) From Guyuan in Foreign Languages Professor at Shihezi - University (Editor: http://www.shzu.edu.cn/) Twice been to America to take part in a cultural exchange, majoring in TESOL (editor: Teaching English as a Second Language). I did Religious Studies and gained a Masters degree in Computer Science. I have worked as a primary and secondary school teacher and in administration. Primarily I engage in English Linguistics and Teaching Methodology, as well as researching the area of Chinese/Western customs.

My name is Zhang Zuotang, and I was born in the south of NingxiaProvince in China in a very poor mountain village. My parents were both peasants, and they never went to school. I was the oldest of eight children; at that time there was no family-planning! I wasn’t able to learn English at a school, so when I began to study English at all I had to do it by myself. I didn’t get a senior high-school education and I became a shepherd immediately after my graduation from junior high. A year later I worked as a village teacher for 16 months.

At the age of nine my parents arranged for me to be betrothed and after graduating from university I got married and we had children. Our two daughters inherited their mother’s beauty and their father’s brains! One of them has already graduated from university herself, and another will graduate in the summer.

I am a born teacher, who really loves his work, particularly when it comes to forging good relationships with students and varying my methodologies. Apart from teaching I like doing research and translation.

My personal characteristics are: an ability to bear hardships, diligence, a sense of humour, and kindness to others.
My personal likes: writing poems, writing my blog, playing chess and listening to music.

I’m not convinced fair systems of education exist in the world. I don’t believe God lets people create their own destinies, but I believe He provides people with opportunities.
